Die - Vassieux-en-Vercors

Vassieux-en-Vercors is SE from Grenoble and is something special and also very dark.Start from a place called Die,(quite appropriate really) and take the D518 towards Vassieux-en-Vercors and La Chapelle-en-Vercors and when the road splits, take the D76 towards Vassieux-en-Vercors. There are a couple of things to note before doing this trip. (1) the road and views are stunning but the drop off the side would mean 'game over' if you get it wrong. (2) This was the home of the French Resistance and 4000 men, women and children were massacred here. All the buildings are post war and there is an eery atmosphere. It is not a happy place, but it is fascinating and the museum is worth a visit. So, if you are going past, please go, the ride and destination are well worth it, but please be considerate, noisy cans and revving is a big no-no up there! http://tinyurl.com/cadar-vev Peter V
